TIMELESS PAVING

DRIVEWAY OVERLAY

A simpler solution to your driveway overlay needs!

Driveway Overlay

One of the most common problems with concrete drives and paving is when the surface starts to crack and chip and essentially just peels off. This can leave your driveway pretty unattractive looking and moreover, can be a hazard to your health and safety. Even though the surface may look neat and tidy, even just an inch underneath it, holes could be appearing. While this doesn't sound so bad, it will over time cause problems such as the surface collapsing inwards or causing cracks.

If you leave it too long, eventually the underlay will become damaged and the surface will break up into nothing more than loose rubble. This can be dangerous, causing trips or falls for you or your family and can potentially damage your car. Additionally it could be more costly to repair.

A Concrete Driveway Overlay could be the Solution to your Problem

There is, however, something you can do to help prevent this. Usually this happens when the installer of the driveway uses excess water when finishing it off and this dilutes the cement, softening it in the process. Being softer, the cement is very susceptible to damage from the elements and general usage.

You don't necessarily have to have your driveway completely redone though. We can overlay your driveway, which is far less expensive than a complete relaying, and usually a lot quicker too.

Making sure your Driveway is ready for an Overlay

There are a few things to do before this happens, including making sure that there is no loose surface left on the drive, that there's no oil or grease on it, but this can be removed with soap or solvents, and generally making sure the driveway is ready before we start. Then we apply a one to two inch layer of overlay on your driveway.

The trick is adhesion. With the right mix of cement, the overlay will "glue" to the original underlay, preventing the surface from peeling or flaking, and also acting as a sealant to protect the underlay cement from the elements.

Besides the lower cost, another advantage to this process is that it's usually much quicker, and thus less of an inconvenience to you, than a complete driveway redo.
