Formulation

The third stage in Traditional Paving Ltd's concrete paving process is the Formulation step. At this point our specified mix will arrive in a ready-mix concrete lorry. It is then put into place and levelled ensuring that all surface water will flow to the intended drainage points.

The surface is then smoothed using trowels and floats. At the correct time the colour surface hardener (Primary Colour) is then applied by hand and floated into the surface of the wet concrete.

With the concrete levelled and primary colour applied, the antique release (secondary colour) is now spread over the surface, this secondary colour will eventually leave remnants, which give the two tone effect on the colour, but for now it will act as a barrier to prevent the concrete pattern moulds from sticking to the wet concrete.

Once printed the second day of the installation and the concrete paving process is over.

Depending on the time of year your paving installation may be ready for wash off the following day or during the winter months we may need to leave the pattern imprinted concrete for 24 hours before it is ready for wash off. The site will be fairly dusty at this stage but all washes off with the trusty pressure when wash off day arrives.
